Amp Japan's 33 MWp Solar Power Plant in Yanai Achieves Commercial Operation
Tokyo, Japan – ;November 2, 2020 – Amp, a global renewable energy infrastructure platform company, today announced that it has reached commercial operation on its 33MWp Ikachi solar power plant, in Yanai City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
The Ikachi solar project achieved commercial operation on October 15, 2020 and is expected to generate approximately 42,000 MWh of clean, solar electricity per year, the equivalent to the annual electrical power use of approximately 14,000 local households. Daiwa House, a part of the Daiwa House Group, was appointed by Amp as the EPC for the project.
As part of Amp’s involvement in the local community, Amp will also donate 140 LED street lights to the town of Ikachi and will cover the associated electricity costs for 20 years.
Dave Rogers, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Amp commented, "We are pleased to announce the start of operations for this landmark project in the Yamaguchi prefecture. Amp is very proud, that despite a complex and challenging civil works profile for the project across 77 hectares of mountainous terrain, compounded by the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 globally, that the plant still achieved commercial operations two months ahead of its original schedule - a testament to the professionalism and skill of our team and trusted partners.”
Amp looks forward to conducting a celebration and donation ceremony with Yanai City on November 5th.
