Manager, Financial Reporting

JOB PURPOSE

As part of a team of professionals working together to develop and maintain financial integrity and controls, and to ensure transparency of the company’s finances, the Manager - Financial Reporting ensures the complete, accurate, and timely reporting of Amp’s financial position and results of operations, by leading the  consolidation process and directing the efforts of members of the financial reporting team to prepare financial statements at various levels within the corporate structure; to manage and coordinate regulatory filings, audits, and investor reporting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the preparation of the financial statements and reports, for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting periods, including all related schedules and financial notes, in accordance with IFRS requirements.
  • Point-person on consolidation process.
  • Subject matter expert on IFRS, research IFRS standards and prepare memos as necessary.
  • Lead the coordination of the annual audits, including liaising with external auditors.
  • Lead the preparation and review of month-end reporting duties of the financial reporting team.
  • Liaise with appropriate groups and on new project launches, asset management reporting, and investor amendment requirements.
  • Facilitate and liaise with other departments on various issues, questions and requests for information.
  • Develop, lead, mentor and motivate the financial reporting team members.
  • Participate in the identification, design and implementation of process improvement opportunities, including internal controls with respect to financial policies, processes and procedures.
  • Review industry regulatory changes and accounting updates on a regular basis to ensure that financial reporting is consistent with industry standards.
  • Special projects/analyses on an ad hoc basis, as assigned by VP Finance or CFO

REQUIREMENTS

  • CPA designation with at least 7 years of relevant experience in a multi-national company.
  • Advanced IFRS knowledge and internal controls experience as evidenced by excellent research and documentation skills to support accounting positions.
  • Proven track record on leading a diverse team of professionals.
  • Enjoys the challenge of technical accounting issues, drafting memos and the ability to communicate the importance and substance of the matter to a variety of financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Experience with NetSuite or another ERP system as the lead user.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements, accompanying notes and the management and discussion analysis.
  • Experience in consolidations, inter-company investments and offsets, foreign currency translation and cash flow preparation.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (including pivot tables, scenario analysis, and queries) and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • A highly organized individual capable of simultaneously managing numerous tasks both for themselves and for the team.
  • Demonstrates professional judgment and initiative in her/his everyday work to ensure the group resolves issues in a timely manner, given tight and fixed financial reporting deadlines.
