ABOUT THE POSITION

An opportunity has arisen for a suitable candidate to join the Australian office of Amp Australia, based in either Melbourne or Sydney.

The role supports the investments and finance function relating to transactions and project development in Australia. The role requires focused analysis required for decision making. Given the small deal team, exposure to all parts of the investment process will be significant for this level of position, and presents a strong career path and growth prospects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in preparing financial models for the acquisition/divestment, development and project financing of renewable energy projects based on project-specific characteristics and assumptions.
  • Update financial models and perform sensitivity analysis.
  • Research and analysis of industry information, technical and financial data for decision support.
  • Involve in due diligence and documentation process for projects and opportunities, and assist in the preparation of relevant internal and external reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of investment committee presentations.
  • Data room management and administrative support in investment/divestment processes.
  • Capital budgeting and project forecasting for revenue and market risk management.
  • Financial analysis and reporting to support the finance function to meet internal and external requirements as well as ad-hoc project and compliance duties. 

PERSONAL BACKGROUND

The role requires a candidate with a proactive and flexible mindset and an ability to work in a small focused team. You will be part of a dynamic team and will be given a great deal of responsibility and opportunity to develop your career over time in a growing organisation in Australia and abroad. A candidate who is a self-starter with excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills will be suitable.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong academic background from one of the following disciplines: Accounting, Finance, Investments, Economics, Commerce or similar.
  • Excellent financial modeller with advanced MS Office, Excel and macro skills. Ability to develop and construct models from scratch, operate and manage them.
  • Preference for experience in Renewable Energy, Electricity or Infrastructure projects in a big four accounting firm or M&A department (either a Bank, IPP, utility or any other type of investor).
  • Familiarity with Project Finance structures and process is essential.
  • Experience of having worked on the development of greenfield projects in Renewable Energy, Electricity or Infrastructure space is considered an advantage.
  • Previous experience with Plexos will be viewed favourably.
  • Specific experience in the Australian renewable or electricity generation market is a plus.
  • Experience in Corporate Finance / Accountancy is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with practical and commercial approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams concurrently and adapting within a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as a team player.
  • An Australian citizen/resident or have the ability to work long term in Australia without sponsorship.
